Jobs4Blue: Frequently Asked Questions
Jobs4Blue eliminates internal costs and gives your officers their time back by handling all of the tedious and time-consuming administrative work associated with scheduling off-duty side jobs, all at no cost to your agency.
With superior AI-powered technology, police off-duty scheduling software streamlines the off-duty process by pinpointing exactly which officers are right for each job.
How much will this service cost our department?
The cost to your agency is zero. Private vendors and contractors pay a small service fee for each requested detail.
Fully-Managed vs. Self-Managed: What’s the difference?
Jobs4Blue offers two tiers of service:
- Fully-Managed: We handle the entire off-duty detail lifecycle, from job creation to invoicing and everything in between.
- Self-Managed: Your agency utilizes our enterprise-grade police off-duty scheduling software to manage the process internally.
What does it mean to "Finance the Float"?
One of the core benefits Jobs4Blue is that we absorb all financial risk associated with extra duty. We invoice the vendors and issue payment to your town by the next pay cycle, even if the vendor hasn’t paid yet.
How do I find out about new jobs?
You can choose to receive instant notifications by text message, push notification, and email whenever an off-duty job you are eligible for becomes available. You can sign up for each job opportunity through the mobile app, the notification link, or the job signup list.
How are jobs awarded?
Jobs are awarded based on your specific departmental rules. This process can be manual or the system can automatically run your rules every time a job is awarded to ensure the most eligible employee is selected.
Does signing up mean I have the job?
No. Signing up is simply an expression of interest. The job is only confirmed if you have been officially awarded the job and receive a confirmation via text, push notification, email, or phone call.
Why is it important for me to check out when I complete a job?
Checking out of a job signifies you are finished and allows you to adjust your final work times. This action triggers our verification team to begin processing the details for payroll.
What is a voucher-required job?
Certain vendors require a paper voucher to be filled out before they can pay an invoice. In these cases, the system will label the customer “voucher required” and you will not be able to complete the job in the app without uploading a photo of the voucher.
Can I drop a job after it’s been awarded?
Yes. You can drop a job through the mobile app or by calling our 24/7 call center at 877-425-8330. All drops must follow your department’s specific “job dropping” regulations.
Does this system prevent double-booking?
Yes. For customers with both Jobs4Blue and our on-duty scheduling platform, POSS, your off-duty work schedule will be fully integrated into your regular operating schedule, making it impossible for you to be assigned multiple jobs that coincide with one another.
Why hasn't my job been verified for payment yet?
A job cannot be verified until all officers assigned to that shift have marked it 100% completed. If a single officer on a crew forgets to check out, it delays the verification for everyone.
